Becks is an IPP prisoner who was given a tariff of 17 months and 21 days. She is still in custody nearly 14 years later. Becks received a diagnosis of Adult ADHD just after she was released from prison last year. This has helped her to understand the negative effects ADHD has had on her behaviour and actions. She is concerned about her forthcoming Parole Hearing following her fourth recall. Becks had been released to self-contained accommodation with strict licence conditions including a GPS tag and curfew. She was late back twice due to her sister going missing.
Becks has been committed to following the directions of the Parole Board and she has completed every psychology session arranged for her. She is not on any medication now due to severe reaction from a previously prescribed drug. Becks knows how important it is for her to be on medication for her condition. She has asked every healthcare professional for further help but her attempts have been dismissed. Her health has suffered as a result of staff shortages and a lack of staff training. Becks wants to make positive changes and start a new life in Approved Premises but describes feeling very let down and troubled by the distinct lack of support.
