Do Something Good and get an Original Artwork – ONLY 7 AVAILABLE

Get an original piece of art if you pledge £50 or more to our CrowdJustice appeal and support mental health reform for incarcerated women

The View is supporting a legal case against a key NHS trust for more transparency and better mental health services for women in prison suffering mental health conditions.

This fundraiser supports a landmark case that will create positive change for women across the country, calling for accountability, and service delivery in the treatment of women prisoners.

We invite you to pledge £50 or more to win an original artwork by a formerly incarcerated artist , a distinctive and powerful work which draws from her own experience.

Some women artists draw inspiration from their experiences of incarceration. Nicolette King’s drawings illustrate the intersection of the physical abuse and mental toll of incarceration upon the brain and systems of thought. They provide insight into the traumatic experiences faced within a prison environment.

These are beautiful, collectable artworks.

They use both text and imagery to convey the distorted messaging around mental health for current and formerly imprisoned women, challenging our perceptions of both the prison complexes and existing structures of providing care.

Nicolette’s pieces push back against even the conventions of artmaking, using a circle rather than a grid to reclaim the space of the canvas and make each piece individual. In doing so, they call for greater compassion and awareness of the struggles of women within both the prison and mental health systems.
